PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

While in a second grade and then fourth grade teaching position I have utilized successful instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to foster an environment of both educational and behavioral growth within the classroom. Using rigorous lessons that align to the common core standards, and by implementing the balanced literacy model and the backwards design model I have assisted in increasing the students’ academic and social emotional skills that will better prepare them for their future.
Also while being employed as a teacher at Newell Elementary I have successfully mentored various new teachers in lesson planning, guided reading, and social emotional issues within the classroom by using research based strategies, good communication and my interpersonal skills.
International Volunteer Headquarters – July 2015
While volunteering for a month in Tanzania, Africa I worked in both a private elementary school and an orphanage. While there I taught students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, English, Math, Science, Geography and History.
Albany County Action Partnership - March 2012- June 2013
As a universal pre-kindergarten teacher I prepared, instituted, coordinated, and implemented an educational curriculum to foster an environment of learning that enhanced the educational needs of individual students within differing educational stages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and developmental needs. This curriculum also provided a foundation of education for preschool age children that prepared students for advancement into kindergarten as well as challenged them academically according to each child’s specific needs. By working with a head-start program I provided an environment in accordance with regulations in regards to safety and cleanliness to enhance the health and well-being of students that is nurturing, stable, and structured.
