States of Matter Unit Plan

This is my States of Matter Unit Plan, which I put together in the fall of 2009. This unit plan is focused around math and science, and uses many hands on activities to keep the students interested. This unit helps teach students to analyze, explore, experiment predict, come to conclusion, etc on the states of matter. Students will learn Science and Mathematics throughout the unit. Through a various learning techniques and activities students will conduct various experiments, record and analyze data, write a hypothesis, learn about density, and how molecules react to different temperatures, among other things. The students will work in groups, pairs and alone. There will be discussions, direct teaching, exploration, graphing, and more. At the completion of the unit students will have an array of knowledge that will help define their critical thinking skills and have a deeper appreciation of science and the states of matter.
